The technical adviser informed the council that the Aka Aka farmer* were prepared to supply an Auckland distributing firm with milk any time there was a shortage, at the council's prices, phis 2d per gallon for cartage. The group was also prepared to accept the usual proportion of milk supplied to schools at the school price.. Under these conditions, although the milk would he brought from a considerable distance, no premium price would have to be paid, and any excess, cartage would be borne by. the' farmers themselves. These farmers were prepared to supply at any time when called upon on condition that no less than 000 gallons per day were taken, in order to make an economical cartage load. It Was considered'that the 000 gallons would not he an over-supply to make up winter deliciences, and that there was a possibility that an even greater outside supply might be required. On the motion of the chairman, Mr. I. J. Goldstine, it was decided to inform the fanners that if applications for temporary licenses were made they would receive favourable consideration from the council.
