"Times have changed, we know," said Mr. Levien, "hut there nsetl to he dances some vcam ago when there was no liquor taken under any circumstances. Yet they still seemed to he quite enjoyable.*'* * Four youths were involved in the | charges. The defendant Wilson emerged from the dance hall and said he was the driver of the car. Wilson had no authority to take the liquor to Point Chevalier, said Constable Walton, for it was part of the Grey Lynn no-license area.
The defendant Davis told the magistrate that he had bought the liquor. The youths .had intended to take it to a party after the dance.
"Don't you think yon would have enjoyed the dance without taking liquor there?'' asked Mr. Levien. -
"Yes, I suppose so, sir." said Davis.
Sub-Inspector Fox: No end of bother is caused -lu just such a way as this. Week after week there are complaints about drinking at dances.
The Magistrate: If it is made expensive for them to take liquor out there it may stop the practice.
