The- 4 per -.cent 1952-55 issues of botli' bonds arid stock had buyers at £99; 5/,' .'the' highest level of. the year, and no sellers on the market. Several other issues also had -better .bids. Australian • industrials were erratic and although offers of £3 IS/ for G; J. Coles and •'•£ 1 3/ for 1.C.1, preferences showed .an improvement oil: yesterday's quotations, British Tobaccos, Broken Hill Proprietary and Electrolytic Zincs were all slightly easier-.- - —•> In-the bank section Xew Zealands improved 2d to' sell, at ,"£1 IS/C, closing .firm*;on;;thc advance. - Buyers raised their offers-to £o .4/ for-English and Scottish, ;and;'to;;£9 10/ for Commercial preference shares.—lnsurances were,steady. . Local industrials showed little change beyjo'nd a slight reduction in sellers' limits lor Auckland Gas to 18/8 for the fully-paid and 12/9 for the contributing shares. • At : the noon call Government stocks were still in keen demand and after the 49-52's had been t ansferred 5/ higher at £99 "5/, sellers dropped out not only. for that issue but also for the -40-49, which had beeii on offer earlier at 10/ above par. Australian industrials'were erratic* but'jn several instances sellers raised /their reserves. In the banking section English and Scottish were quoted lower between £5 and £5 7/0/ and New Zealands had quotations from 3S/4.t0 38/9.
