MAORI CHILDREN.
WEEK'S VISIT TO AUCKLAND
PARTY OF FIFTY COMING.
' Fiftv Maori children are expected to arrive in Auckland on February 10. They will be quartered at the Waipapa Hostel, Pavnell, and will spend a week in the city.
The trip has iiot been sponsored hy any Maori organisation, but has been nnidc possible principally through the efforts of the teachers and committee of the Mochnu native school, in tho north, of which Mr. • L. Wallbriilgo is the principal teacher. The children will be accompanied by their teachers and some of the members of the school committee. Ten of tho children will be from .the Wailuuia native school, on Kaipara Harbour.
Few of tho children liavc ever been away from thoir liomes before, and the visit is expected to bave much educational value. The necessary leave has been granted by the Education Board.
Funds liavo boon provided by efforts of Maori parents aim teachers, and also by Auckland citizens and organisations. The Maori women of various organisations in the city will help to cater for the children when they reach tho hostel.
