GAMBLING CHARGE.
xaxtaxa prosecution. (By Teleyraph—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, this day. In the Kaitaia Police Court T. J. Fleming, licensee of the Awanui Hotel, pleaded not guilty to a charge of permitting gambling on licensed premises. A policeman from New Plymouth ffave evidence that he had been detailed tnr special gambling detection duties, mid km Id that he had taken part in jmmbllng at the hotel, and also had used a bagatelle machine in the bar t"i' Rambling. The magistrate, Mr. O. X. Morris, • imposed a line, which, at the "i'TT! 1 o1 tlle fccc "«d, was fixed at 1/ to permit an appeal.
