crew's latest success was a. three-lengths' win at Wanganui last Saturday. Clifton will go to the starting line a hot favourite. The prospects of Star (Wellington) securing a boat seem remote. In this crew's absence the other two places should be fought out by the provincial crews, and Waitemata, Tauranga and Auckland should be the ones well up at the finish. North Shore-supporters have confidence in their crew, and perhaps they may upset calculations. Six scullers will be afloat, but the possible placings cannot be forecast until the handicaps are known. The seven crews in the maiden double sculls are well matched, but St. George's, Ngaruawahia and Tauranga appear the most likely of success. The strenuous training by the crews will give added interest to the eight-oar events, and in the maiden race the winners should come from Auckland, Waitemata, and Tauranga. The open eights should see five starter*. In this event there is a possibility of Hamilton having the use of University s boat. The crews likely to catch, the judge's eye are Auckland, Waitemata and Tauranga. ' No regatta offers so many surprises as Hamilton. The nature of the course, the draw for positions, and the steering all play such an important part. Nsw Eights. Both University and Hamilton have placed orders in Sydney for racing eights. The boats will be of the three section type, and are expected within the next two months. The University boat is required for the annual university race at Easter.

The Auckland Rowing Association haa agreed to the Ota*o Association's proposal to change the date of the interprovincial eight-oar race from Easter Saturday to March 25. The race was allocated to the Otago Association at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Rowing Association, but shortly afterwards Otago was in a quandry concerning rowing the race at Easter. The change of date will assist the association.

The Auckland Association is inviting nominations for a composite crew or a club crew to represent the province at Dunedin in the interprovincial race. The nominations close on February 2.

The five inter-club races—the Sir Henry Brett Memorial Cup, Mason Cup, Maurice Caro Cup, Dr. Stuart Read eights and the West End Junior Cup (eights) will be rowed on February 18.
