LEAGUE TOUR.
TEAM FOR ENGLAND.
PREPARATIONS DISCUSSED.
OPENING GAME DELATED. Considerable progress in the preparation of arrangements for the tour of the New Zealand team to England, leaving in July, was reported at a meeting of the council of the New Zealand Rugby League, evening. The president, Mr. J. A. Redwood, mentioned the lose suffered by the code by the death of Messrs. W. J. Liversidge (Auckland) and A. ("Tony") Anisy (Greymouth). Mr. Redwood said that Mr. Liversidge, an ex-Auckland representative player, was identified with League football since its inception. In recent years he was a delegate on the council. Mr. Anisy, whose death occurred in Syria, was a pillar of the game on the West Coast of the South Island. A motion of sympathy with the families of the two men was passed. At the suggestion of the chairman it was decided to ask all Leagues, particularly Wellington, Taranaki, Hawke's Bay and Canterbury and West Coast to bold their annual meetings in March on dates that would suit visits by various council representatives. Special arrangements will be made concerning Leagues nearer Auckland. I The secretary, Mr. W. 0. Carlaw, said there was a report that the English Council had delayed the opening match of the New Zealand team from August 28 to September 3. This meant that the Dominion side would leave on July 26 and arrive six days before the first match. A special committee consisting of the president, secretary, treasurer (Mr. W. J. Taylor) and Messrs. A. Leese and H. Wilson, was deputed to make recommendations concerning managers for the New Zealand team and another committee will report on the appointment of selectors.
Mr. Redwood said many inquiries were being received about the tour from various parts of the Dominion.
