TROTTING.

MAY "COME BACK." V. SCOTT RECOVERING. The American-bred pacer TJ Scott may race again. After the inter-Dominion championship at Addington last Easter he suffered from a split hoof, and it was feared his racing days were over. Time and treatment have worked a. big improvement, however, and the hoof is growing out in a satisfactory manner. Hig owner, Mr. J. R. McKenzie, is hopeful that it will become strong enough to /enable the horse to stand a preparation. During his career TJ Scott has given many convincing performances, which led many good judges ito herald him as a twominute pacer. His trainer, R. C. Dunlevey, who prepared Indianapolis when the champion won three New Zealand Trotting Cups, and for his 2.0 2-5, says that U Scott can do anytiling Indianapolis ever did. U Scott was imported from America when he was a two-year-old by his present owner and had a breeder's record of 2.11 as a trotter. When put into training at Royden Lodge he wanted to pace, so Mr. McKenzie decided to put the hopples on him. In his first season, 1935-36, U Scott registered a first and two seconds. In the next season he was first on four occasions second once, and three times third. Last term he won five races, including the third qualifying race in the inter-Dominion championship. He is a richly-bre.l stallion, being bv Scotland (1.59%) from Lillian Hilta, anil already has sired some of the most promising young horses in the Dominion.
