TROPHIES WON.
AUCKLAND LABOUR CLUB. PRIZE-GIVINO CEREMONY. More than 120 members were present at the annual" presentation of club trophies won at the Auckland Labour Club which took place in the dance hall last night. A number of apologies, including one from the Hon. P. C. Webb, Minister of Labour, were read. The gathering was teatimdoy to the progTeasive equality legislation pioneered by t -r 7 ernment '. " a,d the president, Mr. J. i. Jennings, in proposing the toast of the Labour movement. He referred to the sacrifices made for the movement by the I * t ? r - Harry Holland and the late Mr. and Mrs. J. McCombs. Mr. H. Campbell secretary of the Trsdss and Labour Council and of the Federation of Labour, responded. The toast of the club was proposed by Mr. J. Purtell. Other toJu by musical items, were pro* E"r. idß? rison (artists and visitors). Trophies, together with e*tr» prists, were presented by Messrs. J. Sayegh and A. J. Osborne, M.P.. aa foMowa:indoor Bowls.—Sayegh Cup and trophy given by Mr. J. Purteli, Wm. C. PHgrhn; champion pairs (Yock Cup), W. J. Hellaby and E. Howard. Billiarda.—Ladder tournament (Mendelaeohn Cup), P. W. Jones; two-life handitournament (cup given by Mr. M. Delich), E. R. James. In proposing the toast of the prizewinners, Mr. Sayegh said that the club was now strong enough to hare teams in various outdoor sports. The chairman announced that the club nsd received a number of valuable trophy, one for bowling, given by the Milford and Takapuna branch of the Labour party to perpetuate the memory of its founder. Allan Proctor; one for chess, given by Mr. Donald Smith, and the third, from the Hon. P. C. Webb, a handsome cup with miniature, for the couple winning the Lambeth Walk competition now in progress at the club dancet. '
