MORE ONE-DAY CRICKET GAMES.

STRONG OPPOSITION. SERIES ON FEBRUARY 11. CLASH WITH EXGLISH VISIT. When the match between Sir Julien Calms eleven and the combined colleges at Eden Park on February 11 was discussed at the weekly meeting of the Auckland Cricket Association' last night the chairman (Mr. W. R. Fee) stated that if club games were staged on that date they | would have to be played on outside; grounds. Should two-day club games be> started on February 11, this would mean that the oval would be vacant the fol-' lowing Saturday, or that the matches 1 would have to be transferred, which would I hardly be fair to the teams. Mr. Fee then proposed that one-day games should be played, on February 11. His "resolution met with strong opposition from some of the club delegates. However, on being put to the vote it was decided to stage one-day games on that date. In connection with the usual all-day series on the anniversary of the province (January 30 this year) the hours of play to be observed are:—lo a.m. to 12.30 p.m."; 1.30 p.m. to 3.45 p.m.; 4 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. "Billets" for Englishmen. The chairman reported that the question of b : lleting members of Sir Julien Cahn's team dining their stay in Auckland (February 11 for the collegiate game, and March 17-20 for the match with the Plunkct Shield eleven) was still causing some concern. He slated that the matter was urgent, as allocation would have to lie made almost immediately. He requested that members knowing of any vacancies should notify the secretary immediately. Mr. Fee reported on the meeting of delegates in connection with the Pnysieal Fitness Week. He gave an outline of the activities proposed by the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. E. Parry.' The chairman suggested that the association could assist the committee in staging a function at Eden Park. It was agreed to offer the use of Eden Park for a physical demonstration on February 25 between 3.30 p.m. and 4.30 p.m. The success of the provincial and Country Week tourneys was referred to in letters received from the Auckland City and Suburban and Waikato Associations. The chairman commented on the value of 'such tourneys and expressed the hope that other associations would take the matter up. With this object in view, it was agreed that, in forwarding the results of the provincial tourney to the Xew Zealand Cricket Council, the letters of appreciation from the various participants should also be included. Plunket Shield. Arrangements are well in hand for the Plunket Shield contest with Wellington at Eden Park on February 5. 4, 6 and 7. Mr. E. E. Xalder, manager of the representatives on their southern tour, preseuted A. J. Pasties,, captain of the victorious team, with a photograph of tke side which so brilliantly defeated Otago outright. An application to play J. Cleave, of the Thames Association, in a-few-senior games while he is in Auckland on iholiday, was received from the Ponson by-Balm oral Club. The club stated that; Cleave had the permission of the Thame* Association. The committee felt that a dangerous precedent would be created, and it was agreed that permission could not be' granted. The third grade match between Eden and Tamaki is to be replayed, regarding which a protest had been received from the former club on Saturday week.

It was stated that club games at T!den Park were late in starting on occasions, •while some teams were slow to take the field after the tea adjournment. It was resolved to bring the matter to the notice q£. the
