£80,000 LOAN SOUGHT
OAMARU PUBLIC HOSPITAL RATEPAYERS PROTEST. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) OAMARU, Tuesdav. By six.votes to two the Waitaki Hospital Board to-day decided to apply to the Local Government Loans Board for authority to raise a loan of £80.000 for extensions and the installation of equipment at the Oamaru Public Hospital. ' The Waitaki County Council and the Oamaru Borough Council have withheld their approval of the proposed loan until plans and specifications have been placed before the contributing authorities. The Hospital Board has also received petitions circulated by the Farmers' Union throughout North Otago, signed by 405 ratepayers, and two other petitions, signed by 56 ratepayers, emphatically protesting against the loan. It is proposed that half of the £80,000 be found by the hospital district and half by the Government. The protests will be forwarded with the application to the Loans Board.
