POWER OFF AGAIN.
STEAM PLANT TO RESCUE. DIFFICULTIES IN WELLINGTON. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Further interruptions in the supply of power from the State hydro-electric system occurred last evening from 7 o'clock onwards, and though the city standby station at Evans Bay was able to meet the late shopping "demand in the city and Hutt Valley, the outer areas were without light off and on until about 11.30 o'clock, when Evans Bay was able, gradually, to extend to in suburban areas. Technicians at the Kvaiw Bay station worked practically straight through from So clock yesterday morning until 2.30 o'clock thiri morning, and were able to restore the second boiler so that to-day and to-morrow the steam station is able to carry the full load of the city and Hutt Valley area* while the laborious work of hand -cleaning the thousands of salt-encrusted porcelain insulators on the transmission line from Shannon is prosecuted.
