ZANE GREY BACK.
AFTER BIGGER FISH. NEW GROUNDS OFF PERTH. QUEST FOR 30-FOOT SHARKS. With the intention of exploring the waters of the southern Indian Ocean washing the coast of North-Western Australia, Mr. Zane (Jrey, the famous novelist and deep-sea fisherman, passed through Auckland to-day by the Mariposa. He was accompanied by his two assistants. Messrs. tins and Lyle Bagnard. Mr. («rcy stated that he had planned this tni]i for the past 10 veurs and was of the opinion that in this localitv, hitherto unexplored by fishermen, he would find the biggest sail fish, swordfish. sharks and tuna. It was known that there were large numbers of 30ft sharks in the locality, and he was hopeI fill of binding some of those monsters. >S ° far "'e largest fish he had landed was l(i feet long. J ha\ e the most up-to-date availaliK l ," he said. "But lam doubtful whether a39-thread line will hold these big fish. This Ws the maximum strength insisted upon by swordfish clubs. 1 will nlso be using a new type of reel which will hold 1-VKI yards of line, and the rods have been built in proportion." Mr. CSrev's headquarters will be at Perth, from which point he will work the coast to the north. Although no camping area lia« yet been decided upon lie proposes to investigate an island in Shark Bay with the object in view. Prior to leaving for the north of Australia. Mr. Cirey intends to fisli off the southern const and off the Great Barrier Reef. At the latter well-known ground be is anxious to get to grips with the ferocious man-eating "White Death"—the rare white *hnrk. which is the biggest in Australian waters.
