KIBKBY WILSON DOES THE FIRST TURN.
To maintain interest in summer golf at Middlemore theatrical manager John Farrell hats presented a tempting trophy. Possession of it will be decided on play in a variety of competitions over five weeks, and last week-end Kirkby Wilson did the first turn with a 40 Stableford. This earned him 10 points—B points being awarded to any card equal to the scratch score. Always able to play a fair percentage of holes much better than a 20 handicapper. Wilson was consistent on Saturday last, and reaped the benefit. Incidentally it gave the liandicapper a chance to bring his handicap down to 16. The best round of the day was that of K. M. Wilson with a 72. the scratch score of the course. Xaturally the course had dried up, but it was hardly as bad as the suggestion of one player, who could not master it. would suggest: "I was frightened to put my cigarette down for fear it would set the course on fire," he remarked.
