AVENGING DEFEAT.
SIR JULIEN CAHN'S SIDE FOR N.Z. Anxious to avenge the defeat of his team by Xew Zealand at Xottingham two years ago, Sir Julien Cahn, millionaire cricket patron, has spared no expense in taking- a side to the Dominion this season. ("Gintv") Lush, former New South Wales fast bowler, gave the explanation on arrival in Sydney recently in the Ormonde. "Sir Julien has specially strengthened the side for the expressed purpose of beating New Zealand in a Test," said Lush. '"With Hardstaff and other good batsmen in the team, he should just about win," lie added. Lush will join other members of Sir Julien s team in New Zealand next month. Three other Australians, V. Jackson. H. Mudge and J. Walsh, are also members of the team. Ihe Australians had a good season, said Lush. He had got 835 runs during the season, for an average of 35 and 62 wickets for slightly more than lti runs each. Jackson had scored 1800 runs, and Harold Mudge, formerlv of Glebe, 1400. '•We are all quite satisfied with things over there," said Lush. The others intend to stay in England, .but I expect that I shall be back in two years' time."
