UNUSUAL PHASES TO THREE-HORSE RACE ALTHOUGH there was a .lake of £300 for the Banyule Hurdles at Moonee Valley (Melbourne) recently, only three horses competed. It was a thrilling race, however, and the three runners were almost in line at the last hurdle. The race went to the odds-on favourite Giant Killer. The event was started at 1.59 p.m. It was timed to start at 2 p.m., and this is the first occasion veteran racegoers can recall a race being run even a minute earlier than the advertised time. The other two runners were Terka and Triteleia, but despite the small field, Terka ran into trouble and appeared to get on Tritelei&'s heels at the home turn.
