LOCAL BODIES.
NEW LYNN BOROUGH COUNCIL. The New Lynn Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor, Mr. A. T. Reiman, presiding. Infant School for Kelston.—The Minuter of Education wrote stating that the matter of providing an infant school for Kelston area was under consideration by the Education Board and that as soon as their report was received he would be pleased to communicate further on the matter. —Advice was received from the Minister of Labour that Scheme 13 men could be retained on street work* providing sufficient men were put on Law®OlJ Park to keep same in reasonable order. Hospital Expenditure.—The Takapuna Borough Council wrote asking for sup- * proposal that the Miniater of Health be requested to convene a meeting of all interested local authorities for the purpose of placing before them the estimated amount of expenditure on the proposals for the reorganisation of the Auckland Hospital, and the amount of Government subsidy which would be available. Use of Domain.—The Avondale League Football Club wrote asking for the use of the New Lynn Domain ground for League football for the coming year. Resolved that the council advise the club of the size of the ground and that their request would be given favourable con* ■ideration if the ground was suitable. Sewerage Extension. —The Amalgamated Brick and Pipe Company wrote offering to supply the necessary pipes to extendi the sewer to their property in M&tai | Avenue. The council resolved that the I offer be accepted conditional on permission being received from the Railway Department to lay the pipes under their line and ra&t they would agree to contribute to the cost and join in with the scheme. The engineer reported that the extension of the sewer to this property would reticulate an area in the heart of the town which has been a drainage nuisance for many years, but owing to the very favourable offer received from the Amalgamated Brick and Pipe Company it was an opportune time to proceed with the work. The engineer suggested that the Railway Department be- aptproached for. a contribution towards the cost, as the extension would provide a connection for two railway houses and the station premises. Croydon Road Crossing.—Advice was received from the Main Highways Board that the Croydon Road crossing was closed to traffic as from January 13 next and that traffic was being deviated via Titirangi Road, Croydon Road, Clayburn Road and Eden view Road. It was resolved to approach the Department to see if they were willing to contribute towards the extra maintenance required on Croydon Road to carry the additional traffic.
