CANADIAN RIFT.

Conflict Between Liberal Leaders. SERIOUS VIEW TAKEN. (Received 2 p.m.) OTTAWA, December 19. Eighty Ontario Liberals, including members of Parliament, Senators and defeated candidates, unanimously adopted a vote of unbounded confidence in the Prime Minister, Mr. W. L. Mackenzie King, at a caucus which considered the break with the Premier of Ontario, Mr. M. Hepburn. Two Senators and half a dozen Liberal members of Parliament were absent. A secret caucus decided to continue to probe the differences between Mr. Mackenzie King and Mr. Hepburn, mainly through the latter's charge ef masterly inactivity by the Prime Minister regarding the refunding of the national debt, solution of unemployment, acquisition of new markets and alleged favouritism towards the Prairie farmers at the expense of Ontario. The situation is causing the Government concern. If Ontario electorate follows Mr. Hepburn at the next election the Government is likely to suffer severely.
