Beef.—Our offering of beef totalled 210 head, comprising 44 steers and 166 cows and heifers, against 179 head last week. An average entry of good quality ox beef sold under steady competition and realised very keen late rates. Cow and heifer beef was yarded in full numbers and here also the demand was good with values ruling firm. Extra choice ox sold to 40/ per 1001b; choice and prime ox, 37/ to 39/; ordinary and plain, 33/ to 36/; prime young cow and heifer beef, 35/ to 38/; ordinary cow beef, 25/ to 31/. Heavy prime steers, £14 2/6 to £14 7/6; lighter prime steers, £13 12/6 to £14; light prime steers. £11 15/ to £13 10/; small and unfinished steers, £9 12/1 to £10 15/; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £10 10/ to £12 2/6. Heavy prime cows and heifers, £9 5/ to £10 5/; lighter prime cows and heifers, £7 15/ to £8 15/; light prime cows and heifers, £6 5/ to £7 10/; other killable cows, £4 5/ to £6.
