- Leaving Auckland at six o'clock this) morning a St. John Ambulance undertook a long and difficult trip over rotagh roads to bring a patient -from 1 Orua Bay to the Auckland Hospital. An elderly woman suffered "a : fractured thigh she fell' at her home, Orua Bay, last evening. It was found- necessary to bring her to Auckland and a St. John ambulance was - called,' the being received at midnight. An ambulance was dispatched as soon as was practicable. Over two miles of fonts lay along • .the beach and it was necessary to wait for the tide to go out sufficiently to permit the passage of the ambulance.

The patient was admitted to the hospital shortly after noon, the ambulance having covered 150 miles, much of it °vpr very difficult going, in approximately six hours. 'v H
