The Exchange's Vatican City correspondent says rnat although Nazi measures against the Roman Catholic Church have not yet been published, the gist is known there. It is reported that they provide that the relations between the Church and State shall 110 longer be governed by the Concordat, but by laws of the Reich. (2) Processions of pilgrimages will be forbidden. (.'() Sermons based on communications between the Pope and bishops must be submitted to the Keich authorities in advance. (4) A religious order in which any member is convicted of immorality will lie dissolved, and its property confiscated. Other decrees, it is understood, severely handicap religious orders and forbid priests baptising Jews.
The Pope is preparing a reply to the decrees, which are at present before legal authorities.
