N.S.W. PREMIER IX PULPIT. (By Air Mail.) SYDNEY, December 5. The Premier (Mr. Stevens) said last night that he had studied the Bible trying to find an answer to national problems. f He was speaking from the pulpit of the Malvern Hill Methodist Church.

"The world to-day is sick at heart," lie said. "There is a lack of cohesion within and between the nations.

"Disruptive forces are sometimes necessary to bring us to our senses, and the bitter experiences of the last few years jnav be the means of opening the eyes of the world.

"There are two dominating factors in the at present.

"The Munich pact and the gigantic armament race.

"It is feared that war has been only temjiorarily averted by the Munich pact,

"None of the baeic forces of international deterioration have been removed yet.

"There is a shocking glorification of force which leaves one witli the belief that the great achievement by the Four Powers is overshadowed by the possibility of war.

"We live to-day in a world crazy for the invention of machines of destruction. In many countries every section of life is subordinated to rearmament.

"The central cause of the danger and difficulties is that humans have learned to control physical forces without acquiring the ability to control themselves. "The world hag over-organised itself."
