I'uler male Kuialile. who will lie known 011 the race track as Judgment. Kising four yearn, he will probably race at the Stratford fixture at New Near. 1 lie star <>i the team, i-'lani-biug. is .ilko working very s.itinl'ai tm ilv. It IS imdeist..o,l that a snbstaiiti.il oiler has been uiade tor Kl,milling, who lares ill the interests of Mr. I!. O. Ilosking. of I W li.iiigaiei. who also owns .1 iidgmeiit. I lie youngster is certainly a good looker, and the first- of Hulandsiiar's progeny to arrive in Hawcra.

Mr. H. Card, of W i nganui, owner of Fiancee, was present during the week to see the filly worked. Getting a break on Lady Kyra .it the rUuM, Fiancee streaked away, to open up a seven-length lead and record tor the tirst two tin longs, lor three, and, slowing up over the final quarter, with Lady Kyia catching her on the post, she recorded 1.3V4 for five furlongs. It was a good gallop, spoilt by Fiancee's rider being unable to restrain his mount in the early stages. Lady Kyra went her usual good gallop and ut rapidly approaching top racing fortu. The good-looking three-year-old filly Pretty Lass bore out the good impression I m ined by her track work running a third and a first at Feilding at her second and third start* respectively. '1 hough her sire, Kiosk, has not distinguished himself as a progenitor of a first-class racehorse as yet. Pretty Lass haa great pretensions on tier mother's side to stiine on the turf. Lucky Lass, her dam, is by the iStepniak horse Vladimir, a great performer liimselt, tt oiu Hai maul, a mare bred by Mr. CJ. Stead in 1!M8, by Nassau from, the Englishbred_ mare Shebeen. Nassau, by William the Third, by St. Simon, provides the link ot the great St. Simon —Musket cross contained in Pretty Lass' ancestry, and indications point to her being particularly useful. Harry Mills, her trainer, was warmly congratulated on the occasion of leading in his first winner. Mills is a most painstaking trainer and likely to make headway in his profession. The Laughing Prince two-year-old iu his stable pulled up lame and will have to be turned out. iiaweru horses have not been favoured lately in the luck of the run which enters so largely into the decision of races, and Kacecall, Silranus, Gold Glare and Lickem in particular have been unfortunate in that respect in their recent efforts. Gold Band, who has disappointed since her last winning turn, is looking a picture of fitness, and with her half-sister, Silvan us, should be capable of making amends in the near future. Student Prince proved not quite good enough to win at Feilding, though narrowly beaten for second place. His turn may come during the holiday racing. The maiden Kokako, in the same stable, displayed the pace in his races foreshadowed by his track work, but was not solid enough. The racing should improve the Hunting. Song gelding for future maiden events. Mr. La Pouple has his big Mint Leaf gelding Gold Glare in better condition than ever before and was a keenly disappointed man that he failed to run more prominently than he did at Feilding. Apparently (•old Glare, although for such a big horse an exceptionally fast beginner, will be bet-

ter suited over a distance of ground and by easy track conditions. The bulk of tlie Haivera horses will be racing at New Plymouth and Stratford. Kacecall will probably be at Palmerston Noith in preference to Auckland. The apprentice jockey L. Monkley has severed his connection with O. Cox and contemplates leaving the profession on account of increasing weight. Winsome Lu. who has been on the easylist for some time, was galloped on Thursday morning, pulling up sound, and her owner's intentions are to race her when track conditions are favourable—probably at the Stratford meeting at New Year. i
