ENGINEERS' AWARD.
AUCKLAND EXEMPTIONS. (By Telesraph.—Own Correspondent.) WELLIXGTOX, Friday. Partial settlement having bee n reached in the conciliation proceeding for a new Dominion award for the engineering and aJKed trades, argument was heard before Mr. J. A. GUmour, S.M.. in the Industrial Court in Wellington yesterday h>ii a number of minor points at issue asia preliminary to the issue of the award. 3 Mr. T. O. Bishop appeared for the employers *nd Mr. G. T. Thurston (Christchurch) for the Xew Zealand Amalgamated Kngineers and Related Trades' Union, whic his acting jointlv with the Boilermakers' Federation and the Moulders' Union. Submissions were made by the advocates over the application of certain employer parties to the award for exemption from the wages an£ overtime provisions. Such .exemptions had been granted in the previous award, but the union objected toitheir continuance. The Applications for exemption were made by oil companies, of shearing and milking machinery, the Devonport Ferry Company and the Colonial Sugar Company.
