ST. ANDREW'S DAY.
SOCIETY CELEBRATES. AN EXCELLENT PROGRAMME. The St. Andrew's Society of Auckland celebrated St." Andrew's Day in fine style in the Fabian Club rooms, Queen Street. The president, Mr. J. B. Paterson. accompanied by representatives of kindred societies, was piped to the platform by Piper Len Amor. The president welcomed the visitors and member-; and. as this was the last evening of the season, he wished them the compliments of the season. A wide and varied programme was engaged in. The Rev. R. Ferguson Fish gave an interesting talk, his subject being. '"The Three Great Scottish symbols.'' the thistle, the St. Andrew's flag and the burning bush, the symbol of the Scottish Church, which was greatly enjoyed. Solos were rendered by Mrs. Xigel White and Miss Olive Ball and a vocal trio comprising Mrs. Xigel White. Mrs. W. C'oldicut and Miss Madge lay lor. Miss Esme Hodder gave exhibit imis of the sword dance and the Highland fling. Humorous items were given by Mr. J. l"inla\>on and elocutionary items by Mr. \V. Moore. After supper, dispensed by the ladies* committee under the supervision of Mrs. J. \\ . Black, dancing was engaged in. Ihe programme was organised bv .\le.--r-. .1. Budge and J. Xeill, and Mn •f. Xcil acted as master of ceremonies.
