MANY RUMOURS.
N.Z.'S FINANCES. NO ACTION YET TAKEN. ANNOUNCEMENTS SHORTLY. (Special to " Star.") WKTJJXGTOX, this day. The many rumours current regarding important Government decisions relating to the financial position indicate (hat the commercial community is feeling a pprehensive. There have been reports of an intention to raise a large internal loan, but the most popular subject of rumour relates to tariff changes and control r>ver luxurv imports. It was even suggested that Wellington merchants had been consulted by the Customs Department regarding classes of importations. However, all these suggestions have no foundation, though this does not dispose of the probability of some important ami luncements being officially made at an early date. The only practical step taken so far has been by the commercial bank, which, in the interest of their overseas funds, have curtailed their sales of drafts outside New Zealand.
