Admission Planned Over Period

Of Three Years. CAREFUL SELECTION. United Press Association.—Copyright. CANBERRA, December 1. The Commonwealth Government has decided to admit 15,000 European refugees over three years, but only of those classes whose entry would not disturb existing labour conditions.

Individuals with capital and experience to establish or develop industries will be given special consideration.

Legislation will be introduced in the Senate immediately, containing drastic provisions • for the registration of aliens in Australia.

Plea of Jewish Youth Who Shot

Dr. von Rath. FIRST TIME USED REVOLVER. (Received XI a.m.) PARIS, December 1. "I did not intend to kill Dr. von Rath. I am sorry he is dead," Herschel Urvnszpan, the 17-year-old Jewish youth, who shot the German Embassy secretary, told the examining magistrate, "but he called me Jewish filth. I fired blindly; it was the first time I ever used a revolver."

The accused said he had been particularly upset by the articles in Herr Streicher's "Der Stuermer," the violently anti-Semitic paper.

HUNDREDS PERISH. ARRESTED JEWS IN VIENNA. (Received 10 a.m.) MUNICH, December 1. It is learned that inquiries of the International Committee at Vienna revealed that 700 arrested Jews died. Men and women were confined in barns and bare roomg, in which there were not even beds or chairs.
