BUILDING INCREASES.
CONSTRUCTION IN AUCKLAND, Building construction in the city during the past eleven months has cost £908.587, a« compared with £777.156 in the same period in 1937, and £798,129 in 1936. The value of the permits issued by the City Council during November, was £75,393, as against £73,539 for October, and £84,883 for November, 1937.
The permits include a large, number of alterations and additions to existing buildings, among them being a brewery and a Varehouse. New buildings include a depot, two factories, a block of shops, and a small hall. Twenty-seven new dwellings represent an outlay of £27.837. Of these 12 were estimated to cost over £1000, with one valued at over £3600. So far this year 280 new homes have been erected.
