ALTAR DEDICATED.
PAPAKURA CHURCH SERVICE.
At a special service in the Papakura Anglican Church last evening the new' altar and reredos were dedicated by Archbishop Averill, together with two brass candlesticks and sanctuary furnishings in deep blue. The altar and reredos. which are built in solid oak, are a beautiful addition to the church, and are the work of Mr. Crawford, of Auckland. the archbishop chose as his text, "We have an altar," taken from the Epistle to the Hebrews. During the course of his address, he said Holy Communion was not for saints only, neither was it medicine but a food, the soldiers of Christ s ration. The primate concluded with an expression of thanks to those who had contributed in makin" God s house beautiful. "
Visiting clergy included the bishop's chaplain, the Ven. Archdeacon of Manukau. Rev. W. J. Simkin, Rev. E. Blackwood Moore, vicar of Papatoetoe, and Rev. W. E. Connolly, vicar of Waiuku. The Rev. Hopkins Sinclair, vicar of Fapakura, conducted the service, after which an adjournment wag made to the Parish Hall, where parishioners met for a social hour.
