CROQUET CLUB.

Ellerslie.—The otlicial opening of the Ellerslie Croquet Club took place recently in beautiful weather. Mr. White, Mayor of Kllerslie, in a few well-chosen words, wished the club a most successful year. Mrs. Webber, president of the Auckland Croquet Association, wished the club a bright and happy season. Mrs. Clarke,'one of the executive member*, in a ineat little speech, wished the club every good wish for the season. Mrs. McKinny, the club's firsfepresident and life member, played the first ball, and Mrs. Richmond, ElleTslie's president, declared the greens open for play. Progressive croquet was played, there being over tiO guests present. The prize-winners were:—A section: Highest score, Mrs. Clarke; consolation. Mre. Waimsly. B section: Highest score, Mra. Carter; consolation, Mrs. Johnston.
