£20,000,000 of German Fine Imposed on Jews. CASH PAYMENT DEMANDED. BERLIN, November 27. Jews in Germany have been informed that they must pay in cash the first 23 per cent of the £80,000,000 fine imposed on them by December 15. Aryan experts are fixing the prices which a special department of the Chamber of Commerce will pay for jewellery and works of art. RETURN INDEFINITE. American Ambassador to Germany. RELATIONS WITH ITALT. WASHINGTON, November 27. The State Department announced to-day that Mr. Hugh Wilson, Ambassador to Berlin, recently recalled, is to remain here indefinitely as consultant on German-American relations. It was also disclosed that Mr. Wilson and the Ambassador to Italy, Mr. William Phillips, will dine with President Roosevelt at Warm Springs to-night for a thorough canvassing of relations with the totalitarian States. This is causing observers to suggest that the President may be considering a different approach in America's relations with Italy. SUDETEN BALLOT. REICHSTAG ELECTION. BERLIN, November 27The ballot paper for .the Reichstag election in Sudetenland is thus worded: "Do you recognise our Fuehrer Adolf Hitler liberator of Sudetenland? Do you vote for the National-Socialist election list?" The names of Herr Hitler, Herr Henlein and Herr Frank head the list. Large circles captioned, "Yes" and small circles captioned, "No" conclude the paper. ANTI-SEMITIC MOVE. OUTRAGE IN SOUTH AFRICA. CAPETOWN, November 27. A synagogue at Benoni, near Johan- i nesburg, was dynamited and partly destroyed, the outrage being accom- j panied by demonstrations against the ; Jews. Several of the rioters were fined. The Union Government is deter- i mined to crush the anti-Semitic out- ' burst, which was deliberately planned by the distribution of a provocative pamphlet.
