END OF YEAR.
Y.W.C.A. PARTY. JUNIOR GYMNASIUM GIRLS. The junior gymnasium classes of the Y.W.C.A. held a successful Christmas party to mark the conclusion of the year's programme. About 1"20 guests flere present, these including not only class members and. their friends, but also their parents and grandparents.. The programme opened with a varied display of gymnastics given in the gymnasium by the junior girls, the novelty of these making them particularly delightful to the spectators. Those under 12 years of age took part in a display representing a typical lesson, and those over 12 gave a demonstration of vaulting and general apparatus work. A presentation of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" was then given in full costume, while an older member of the classes related the story in picturesque fashion. A colourful French peasant dance was a very popular item. A main feature of the festivities of the morning took the form of refreshments in the activities lounge, which had been decorated in traditional style with flowers, balloons, streamers, holly and Christmas trees. Each girl's place at the table was marked by her name printed on a novel card cut to the shape of a fawn. Crackers and paper hats did much to create that festive Christmas atmosphere, which made the party so enjoyable to all who attended it. The program me was fittingly concluded with the singing of various well-known songs, in which all present joined with enthusiasm. Miss A. Kennedy then proposed a vote of thanks to Miss Harmsworth, the physical director, and all those who had done so much to make the party a success.
