POPE SUFFERS GRAVE CARDIAC ATTACK.
OFFICIAL BULLETIN. Stricken at Celebration Of Mass. RELATIVES AT BEDSIDE. In<l<>i>en<lrnt Cable Service. (Received 12 noon.) ROME, November 25. An official bulletin says: "The Pope, after celebrating Mass, was stricken unexpectedly by an attack of cardiac asthma, which has been ameliorated. Drs. Docchi and Milani immediately pave assistance." It is understood the Pope collapsed and was unconscious for several minutes, but reacted to restoratives. Shortly after noon he was placed in an oxviren tent. The Pope had another stroke at 5.30 p.m. Dr. Milani administered emergency treatment to the Pope, who was unconscious for about 15 minutes. Virtually all the Pope's relatives were at his bedside. GRAVELY ILL. ALL AUDIENCES SUSPENDED. (Received ] 2 noon.) ROME, November 25. It is reported that the Pope is gravely ill from a heart attack. A message from Vatican Citv states that the Pope is ill. but that there is no danger. He is advised to rest and all audiences have been suspended. Dr. Milani, the Pope's doctor, savs the Pope is a little better. "I am optimistic. Naturally everything depends on the resistance of the heart." Dr. Milani stated at 8.15 p.m. that the improvement in the Pope's condition was continuing. Dr. Milani. who is a heart specialist, and Professor Nianchi consulted the Pope at the bedside at 10 p.m. and found his heart weaker. • The Times'' Rome correspondent says that Cardinal Lauri earlier administered extreme unction, hut this was not taken to indicate that his condition is considered desperate.
