What To Grow >JIHE ordinary red kinds of the tomato are familiar to everyone. There are, however, the yellow or golden, the peach, the pear-shaped and the cherry varieties. The names are, of course, an indication of what they are like in shape or colour. Although, as a in no way an improvement on the red kinds, yet they are worth growing for the sake of variety. A plant or two of each in the garden will enable you to make quite an artistic floral salad and you will be able to supply your friends with the fruit to suit their requirements as regards size and also colouring.
How to Grow 'Em plants are growing, keep the ground between rows loosened with the hoe. Tomato plant* benefit by regular watering if the weather is dry. At the same time, the tomato is a native of a hot, dry country and too much water is inclined to give a sappy plant more likely to suffer with disease than one growing under more severe conditions.
In an average season it is seldom necessary to. water a tomato plant. When carrying a heavy crop it is advisable to give a mulching of manure and liquid manure will assist in setting fruit and helping it to Bwell.
