Fashions at the Ellerslie Meeting. Spring (showers and extra damp weather rattier clouded the fashion horizon at Kllcrslie to-day, when the Auckland IJfying Club held the opening day of its mid-spring meeting, but in spite of t his some attractive examples of the future colour trends and styles were to he seen among the wet weather race patrons. An interesting feature was the new vogue lor lighter and more brightlycoloured raincoats, while the heavier costumes, too, showed in the colour scheme a. sample of the coining gaiety of the summer months. Costumes were naturally the order of the day, but here again there was a certain note of gaiety in the gay blouses, brightly-coloured tweeds and contrasting shaded scarves. The hats also reflected the coming summer vogues. Honnet. shapes and high crowns were popular, while an interesting new note was seen on the eolmired swathing worn with the lighter felts.
