SUCCESSFUL WEEK.

NICOLA'S SEASON OF MAGIC. Few individual entertainers to visit this city have so captured ihe public fancy as has "Nicola the Great," whose displays of magic at His Majesty's Theatrehave been given before packed houses at every performance since his opening night last Saturday. Not only is Xicola a great magician—he is rated with the best in the world to-day—but he also has that extra something that enables him to "put over his tricks and illusions with wonderful effect. His genial stage personalitv has striking appeal fdr local patrons, who have warmly applauded his every appearance. Aiding him are a dozen accomplished American artists, among whom A 1 <le ( lerq. the hill-billy, and mind-reader Lucille Roberts are outstanding. Over 100 tons of scenery and props are used to provide unusually lavish backgrounds for the tricks, and the way in which the stage is festooned and decorated greatly enhances the effectiveness of the illusions. In the afternoon a matinee, which was for women only, was attended by a particularly large number of women. Miss Lucille Roberts, psychic mentalist and astrologer, opened with an instructive talk on the science of astrology, and later, with the aid of mental telepathy and a crystal (jueed for concentration purposes only), answered many questions that had been sent up. A great stir was caused in the audience when the unfortunate loser of a valuable ring was told to look in her purse and find the missing object. After a few minutes of fumbling, it wa6 located in the torn lining of the purse.
