£20,000 LOAN CARRIED.
TE AWAMUTU WATER SUPPLY. (From Our Own Correspondent.) TE AWAMUTU, Friday. The poll of ratepayers to-day on the proposal to raise £20,000 for improving the municipal water supply service did not occasion much interest, the result being regarded as a foregone conclusion. The actual voting was: For 14H: against, 14. The scheme provides for laying a new nine-inch pipe from Pironjjia Mountain to the borough, alongside the existing eight-inch line, and providing for reticulation within the borou<>li. The money for the loan has not yet been provisionally arranged for. hut the Mayor (Mr. fi. Hinley) told a meeting of ratepayer* this week that he anticipated getting the money from the State Advances Corporation. He expected the extra water supply to be available in Te Awamutu by the end of March.
