PROGRESS HINDERED.
BRITISH AIR DEVELOPMENT
British Official Wireless. RUGBY, November 24. In spite of unavoidable delays, which have necessitated a modification of the programme of transatlantic experimental flights, it is still hoped by the Air Ministry that it will be possible to start a regular air mail service some time next year. In the House of Commons yesterday, the Under-Secretary for Air, Captain H. H. Balfour, explained that minor changes had been found desirable in the Albatross landplane, and said that delay in the production of Empire flying ftoats, owing to defence requirements, had prevented the carrying out of the original j programme. It had been decided to defer th•/ continuation of the experimental! flights until more favourable obtained in the spring.
