PLUNKET SOCIETY.
MOUNT EDEN'S NEEDS.
NEW BUILDING SUGGESTED,
In an upstairs room of a building in Dominion Road during last year 9000 women and babies attended to receive advice and treatment given by nurses at the Plunket Society. This fact mentioned by the Mayor, Mr. R. Mills, at last night's meeting of the Mount Eden Borough Council, when Mr. R. S. Harrop, during a discussion on the centennial exhibition proposals mentioned the inadequate accommodation which waa at present provided for the society. Mr. Harrop considered It would be an appropriaito gesture If Mount Eden marked the centenary by providing more up-to-date and commodious accommodation in the borough,to enable the Plunket Society to continue its humane work. He thought this could be done by erecting a building on a suitable site in the borough.
The council heartily supported Mr. Harrop's suggestion and it was decided that plans for a suitable building, together with an estimate of the cost, should be submitted to the council.
