EASTERN DEFENCES.
Six British Battalions Sent
To Hongkong.
U.S.A. MARINES IN SHANGHAI. (Received 10 a.m.) SHANGHAI, September 26. Six: British battalions are being suddenly drafted to Hongkong. The Ist Battalion of Seaforth Highlanders embarked by the cruiser Birmingham at four hours' notice. It is Ujat the United States marines will take over British defence sectors in Shanghai. Most of the Germans are moving into the Japanese Concession. The Tohokai (Right Wing) party, which possesses considerable military support, has sent a manifesto to the Cabinet urging Japan to support the German demands on Czechoslovakia, says the Tokyo correspondent of "The Times."
