HITLER GIVES THANKS TO MR. CHAMBERLAIN
(Received 11.30 a.m.)
BERLIN, September 26. "I am grateful and thankful to Mr. Chamberlain for his efforts. 1 assured him that Germany wants only peace. I repeated the proof that this problem can be solved by Germany. I repeated that after this problem is solved Germany has not a territorial problem in Europe. I told him that after the Czechs have peacefully settled the problem with other minorities we are ready to guarantee Czechoslovakia, but I also told him my patience had ended. "We do not want the Czechs. Our demand for the Sudetens is irrevocable. Benes can choose peace or war. He will either accept my demands or we will go to liberate our Germans. I am the first soldier. Let the world know that behind me the people march in step. Let the world know it is a different people from 1918. After Herr Hitler's speech. Dr. Goebbels declared: "I solemnly declare that the German nation stands as one man behind you and will fulfil your orders enthusiastically and obediently. November, 1918, will not recur. We will defend the life and honour of the nation to the last breath. We promise you, Adolf Hitler, seigheil." The crowd sang "Deutschland Über Alles" and the "Horst Wessel" song. "Let us unite in swearing this holy oath: Our will shall be stronger than our need in danger. Our will shall break the need and danger.* We have decided. We are ready to let Benes choose." The speech was followed by 10 minutes* cheering and ■hmiti at "tHid PI H JsH'MJ "
