| The Exchange markets affected by over- , seas news and by the drop in values in | Australia yesterday plunged downward* this morning and showed the weakest ■ trend for years. Only a few sales were I made. 'Gilt edgeds and banks were depressed, the only buying in the banking section being for Australasias at £10 2 6 Insurances remained weak, a buyer for -Nationals offering 15/6 with sellers 1/ above. ! A sale of Goldsbrough Morts at 26/4, was a reduction of 2d from last week ' In .breweries. Tooth's followed the \ust*ahan trend to a weaker maj&et between I I ; ™ a , n '' A New Zealand* had inquiry i at 39/, sellers 39/6. The worst sufferer's ! were Australian industrials. Sellers of Orlass shares lowered their limits to 00/ ol Broken Hill i'roprietarv to 53/9 and of Anthony Horderns to 15/9. In all rases buyers were considerably lower. Colonial 1 hujfaiw had a wide market between £44 .and £40.. I In chain stores Wool worths (Sydney) lost 2d and (J. .T. Coles were quoted j cheaper, with buyers .72/9. sellers 74/9 | Metals were inactive and quotations generally wide. The markets lay from 26/ to 28' for Broken Hill Souths, from 2.>'B to 26/5 for Lyells. from 10 6 to 10/9 for Mount Morgans, and from 42 9 to 43 6 for North Broken Hills. SALES RECORDED.
