Fraser Defeats Little.
A hard and close welter-weight bout was the best of the amateur preliminaries, J.. Fiaser < (10.7) defeating W. Little (10.5). Eraser's clever footwork and hard hitting won him tne verdict, though Little did most of the attacking. There were two other welter-weight bouts, H. Robertson (10.7) defeating H. Hudson (10.5), and J. Balcombe (10.5) drawing with L. Donaldson (10.1).
In a light-weight contest H. Wilmott (9.9) narrowly defeated J. McKay (9.10) on points. The loser showed fine defence and foot-work for a novice, and countered well, though Wilmott made the pace.
The referee for the amateur bouts was Mr. A. B. Joplin, and the judge* Meairs. S. Burke and H. W. Brien.
