LAWN TENNIS.
BIRKDALE ANNUAL MEETING. I The report of the Birkdale Tennis Club adopted at the annual meeting reviewed a successful season, during which the membership had been maintained at the maximum of players which the courts could accommodate, improvements to the grounds had been effected. The president, Mr. W. S. Garrett, presided at the annual meeting, and there was a large attendance. The opening for the season was fixed for Saturday, October 8, at 2 p.m. It was resolved to again affiliate with the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association. The following officers were elected :— Patron: Sir. K. J. Osborne, Mavor of Birkenhead: president. Mr. W. 8. Garrett; vice presidents. Messrs. H. Chetwvnd. XV. B. Darlow. J. Prlckett, Albert Hadfleld and D. McNarer ; secretary and treasurer. Mr. F. H. Schormani club.captain, Mr. 8, Barns; committee, Mrs. 8. Barns. Misses O. Thomas, B. Brans, Messrs. K. L, Armltage, W. SutcUfte, C. Schorman; ground superintendent and, delegate to Auckland Lawn Tennis Association, Mr. F. H. Schorman ; auditor, Mr. C. 18. Walker.
