PORTA!. SHAPES WEIL,

EVENTS AT FOXTOX.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) WANGANUI, Monday. I Five Wanganui-owned liorsea started in the maiden event at Marton, the bent form being shown by Mawai, who ran second to Namara. The latter, a three-year-old Lackham colt, trained by Hector (.tray, won easily, and looks likely to score again shortly, as he is much improved. After striking euch a good one as Koval Choice at Wanganui, it was bad luck for Mawai to have to fill the position of runner-up again to another well above the average tor a maiden. However, Mawai's turn should come soon. Fiancee woe reported to have improved since Wanganui, but the Siegfried filly was never going like a winner in the maiden at Marton. However, the big field and soft going was against her, and she might win a race or two later on for Mr. H. E. CV, I. her Wanganui owner. Eurotas stripped nice and bright, but the long-striding eon of Pantheon did not handle the going at Marton at all well, and fourth was the best he could do. lhis gelding will be seen to better advantage when the tracks become firmer.

Brazen King/ who ran second, palled up lame, and it looka a* if.he will not race again for eome time; Gay Son waa expected to ahow improvement on bis Wanganui form, but he never looked a winner. The bad going may have boon against him, but it waa a very dieappointing performance for one who proved himaelf in the forefront of two-ffar-olda laat aeaaon.
