A Smart Effort — Ngakaru Jumps Well. (By Telegraph.— Special to "Star.") TE AWAMUTU, this day. Fast work this morning was carried out on the plough, which was in good order. A feature of the morning's work was a pleasing half-mile by Te Hero, and an ® x cellent display of jumping by Ngakaru. Biddy Girl (Murtagh) was first out, and completed her half mile in 53 3-ss. She worked well. Te Hero was also sent over four furlongs, coming home nicely in 49%5, the first two in 235. Netlimount (Home) and lou of the Soil (C. G. Goulsbro) took .128 for their half mile. Nethmount is a three-year-old half brother to King Rey, by Surveyor. Cheval de \ oleo (James) as sent away from the five furlong peg to come home in 1.8 1-3. He will not be making a trip to Melbourne. British Nation (Goulsbro), who looks in excellent order, worked well over a round, sprinting home over the last two furlongs in 26 l-3s. Celtic Lad (Home) took 52s for his last half-mile of six furlongs. Ngakaru (Mcßae) gave a dashing display of jumping over two fences, and was later galloped over seven, taking 1.35. Others to do pace work were Balinavar, Loombination. Hutana. Galilee.»Ciiitraec, Te Monowai, Besiege, Requiem. Buccaneer. Meliora, Tonnerre. Orate, Corato, Superior Guard and Sweet Rose.
