FEARS IN ITALY.
Mussolini Curtails Tour in the North. PESSIMISTIC PRESS. . (Received 10 a.m.) ROME, September 23. Signor Mussolini cut short his northern tour and has returned to Rome.. All the newspapers press the claim of the Polish and Hungarian minorities. Pessimism is the keynote of the Italian Press comment on the situation. Signor Gayda writes: "The situation is most dangerous and has worsened in the last 24 hours." Government circles fear that Germany will be compelled to take military action. The Rome correspondent of the British United Press reports that Italians believe that events have developed so rapidly that war is inevitable.
