Diamond Wedding.
MR. AND MRS. J. CAPES.
The Oddfellows' Hall, Avondale, presented an animated and happy scene when a very well-known and highlyesteemed couple. Mi", and Mr*. John Capes, of Rosebank Road, celebrated their diamond wedding recently. It was the occasion for a reunion of their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and old friends, there being ?•"> guests present.
The arrival of the bridal couple was the signal for the forming of a guard of honour through which they walked to the strains of the wedding march and showers of confetti. The bride looked charming, in navy satin and lace with diamante trimmings, and carried a bouquet of hyacinth* and cyclamen in mauve toning*. The wedding breakfast followed, and among the telegrams were* one from His Majesty King George VI.. one from his Excellency the Gov-ernor-General. and one from the Hon. H. G. R. Mason. The guests then adjourned to the ' social hall, which was gaily decorated with streamers and balloons. Suspended from the ceiling was a large wedding bell.
A. presentation wu made from the grandchildren of an enlargement, framed and suitably inscribed- A most enjoyable and happy time was spent in dancing and games, in which the bride most readily and ably participated.
