NEWMARKET SECTIONS.
RAILWAY LEASES AUCTIONED.
Demand for business sites in Newmarket was reflected in the keen bidding for the 20 railway leases offered yesterday at auction by Messrs. C. F. Bennett, Ltd. Of the 20 lots, which are all leases for 21 years with perpetual right of renewal, 16 were sold.
Lot 38 at tiie comer of Remuera Road and New Street brought £39 a year for ground rent. Lot 49 at the corner of New Street and Swinburne Pass brought £32 10/, and a block of three lots fronting Remuera Road brought £ol 10/. Three lots of varying areas in New Street went for rentals of £82, £102 and £41. For seven of the sections of approximately nine perches in New Street £18 each was given and £18 10/ for one next a right-of-way.
