Confidence that Mr. C. R. Petrie's majority in the 1935 contest for the nauraki seat would seem insignificant ln comparison with the success he would achieve at the coming election, was expressed by Mr. A. G. Osborne, Labour candidate for Onehunga, when he spoke la«t night on behalf of Mr. Petrie, who is the party's candidate for th« new Otahuhu Mate Mr. N. Aitcheson presided over the meeting, which was held in the Orpheu* Theatre, Otahuhu. There was a good attendance, and the audience accorded a unanimous vote of thanks to Mr. Osborne, and carried a motion placing renewed confidence in Mr. Petrie. The people appreciated, said Mr. Osborne, the comprehensive poTfcy placed before them by the Government in 1035. This policy had produced a change of heart and outlook. The issue at the coming election was clear-cut, and the mandate the Government asked for waa based on the linea of humanitarianism and Christianity.
